Privacy

Last updated: 16 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Useful Wallpapers (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you use usefulwallpaper.com and related services (the “Service”). The Service provides customizable iPhone lock-screen wallpapers delivered through an Apple Shortcut and an access code after you subscribe.

This page is written to match how the product works today. It is not legal advice. If you need a lawyer-reviewed policy for your jurisdiction, please get one before relying on this alone.

Who we are

The Service is operated as Useful Wallpapers. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email support@usefulwallpaper.com.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account and purchase data. Your email address, the wallpaper you subscribed to, your plan tier (Base, Photo, or Plus), subscription status, daily image-fetch usage, and your access code. We also store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers so we can manage billing and plan changes.
  • Wallpaper customizations. Settings you choose on a wallpaper page and save to your access code — for example device model, timezone, colors, layout, difficulty level, and display options (such as showing part of speech or an example sentence).
  • Photos you upload. If your plan includes a custom photo background, the image file you upload is stored so we can place it on your wallpaper. Photos are associated with your access code.
  • Payment data. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. Stripe may collect billing details according to its own privacy policy.
  • Approximate location for pricing. When showing prices, we may use a coarse country code from our hosting provider (for example to choose EUR, USD, or GBP). We do not use this to build a location profile of you.
  • Technical and log data. Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically process IP address, device/browser type, timestamps, and request logs needed to run and secure the Service.

We do not require a username or password. Your access code is the key to your subscription.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and fulfill your subscription and access code
  • Generate and deliver wallpaper images for your Shortcut
  • Save and apply your customizations (and optional photo)
  • Send transactional email (for example your access code after purchase)
  • Process payments, upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations via Stripe
  • Enforce daily fetch limits and prevent abuse
  • Provide support when you contact us
  • Improve reliability and security of the Service
  • Comply with legal obligations (for example tax or accounting records)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising. We do not send marketing newsletters unless we clearly ask and you opt in later.

Legal bases (EEA / UK visitors)

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process personal data where needed to perform our contract with you (providing the subscription and wallpapers), where we have a legitimate interest in operating a secure service and preventing abuse, where required by law, or where you have consented (for example optional features you choose).

Who we share information with

We share information with service providers who help us run the Service, only as needed for their role:

  • Stripe — payments, subscriptions, invoices, and the customer portal
  • Resend — sending transactional email such as your access code
  • Vercel — website hosting and storage for uploaded photos (Vercel Blob)
  • Neon (PostgreSQL) — database for access codes, customizations, usage, and related records
  • Wordnik — dictionary lookups for the daily-word wallpaper. We request words and definitions on the server; we do not send your email, access code, or photos to Wordnik

Apple Shortcuts and iOS run on your device. We do not control Apple’s software or how iOS handles notifications and permissions.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate safeguards.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms).

How long we keep information

  • Subscription and access-code data — for as long as your subscription is active, and afterward for a reasonable period needed for support, fraud prevention, and legal or accounting records
  • Customizations — while linked to your access code, or until you change or clear them
  • Uploaded photos — until you delete them, your plan no longer allows a custom photo and we clear the photo, or your account data is deleted
  • Refresh balance — stored on your access code to enforce daily limits; we do not keep a separate usage history
  • Shared word cache — we store dictionary text for a given date and difficulty so every subscriber sees a stable word that day. That cache is not tied to your identity

You can ask us to delete personal data associated with your email or access code by contacting support@usefulwallpaper.com. We may retain limited information where the law requires it.

Security

We use reputable hosted infrastructure and industry-standard protections (including HTTPS and access controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please keep your access code private — anyone with the code can fetch wallpapers and change customizations for that subscription.

Cookies and similar technologies

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. The site may use local browser storage for preferences such as light/dark theme. Stripe Checkout and the Stripe Customer Portal are hosted by Stripe and may set their own cookies under Stripe’s policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and delete personal information. We do not sell personal information.

To exercise these rights, email support@usefulwallpaper.com and include your access code and/or the email used at checkout so we can find your records. We will respond within a reasonable time (and within the timeframe required by applicable law).

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product or the law changes. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
